Did you enjoy playing with Lego at some point in life, either yourself or with your kids? I know I did. Lego is one of the most vesatile and creative toys ever invented and has inspired generations of future engineers, architects, builders and mechanics.

The current range of lego bricks and sets available is huge compared to back in my day when you had basically two bricks, four bricks, six bricks eight bricks and roof bricks – and that was just about it. Oh there were some funny single widthc corner bricks for building wells but nobody could figure out much else to do with them so every house had to have a well.

Now we can all become ferry boat builders with this very cool 3 in 1 lego ferry kit. The Lego ferry kit can be made into two different types of ferry, oh yes, and an aeroplane too – that’s handy then.

Here’s a stop motion video which shows the process of constructing a Lego ferry and then boarding the car and caravan through Dover docks, up the ramp and sailing off in time over the English channel to Calais.

The Scottish Government has launched an online survey, seeking the views of businesses on the current situation regarding island ferry routes. In their own words the survey is designed to….

……research into travel needs within Scotland’s island and peninsular communities with the intent of using the findings to help shape future strategic plans for transport services

The questionnaire is part of a wider government review of ferry crossings.

This is an interesting development from the Scottish Government. Hopefully many other local authorities will take heed of this example and improve ferry travel in line with both individual and business requirements wants and needs.

Information on the survey could be found at www.hie.co.uk/ferries-business-survey.htm.

The survey itself is now closed
